Antique Meiji-period Japanese Satsuma Kodansu Gilt Lacquered small table cabinet

A Satsuma panelled and lacquered Kodansu cabinet. 1868 - 1912, late 19th century. The cabinet fitted with Satsuma panels and drawers, painted and enamelled with assorted flowers. The cabinet constructed from a light timber and superbly lacquered with fine detailing in gilt, silver and red enamels on top. The doors and with small silvered butterfly hinges and the interior fitted with small fixed shelves.

Unsigned, the Satsuma panels likely decorated by Kinkozan. One damaged Satsuma inset panel, some splitting to the lacquer/timber around some of the joints and doors, the hinges are slightly loose. Some overall wear to the decorated finish.
