We offer an antique porcelain Satsuma bowl from Japan dating from the late nineteenth century Meiji era. The bowl is shaped with six ruffles which appear as interlaced cabbage leaves on the exterior of the bowl which are decorated with blue grasses and two sprays of flowers. The interior of the bowl is smooth and features a golden outer band decorated with hand painted chrysanthemums surrounding a single butterfly. The artist has signed the base of the bowl. The bowl measures 7 1/4" to 71/2" in width and 2 3/8 in height.

As seen in the photographs there are two minor flakes at the upper rim. Otherwise, the bowl is in very good antique condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs.
